James Whitmore was an extraordinarily versatile actor, with a career that lasted sixty years, appearing in plays, war movies, musicals, comedies, dramas, science fiction, and westerns. My personal favorite Whitmore film is The Asphalt Jungle- a classic film noir. He died on Friday, February 6th,at age 87 from Lung Cancer.

From the Twilight Zone episode "On Thursday We Leave For Home" to his role as Brooks in "The Shawshank Redemption," James Whitmore was truly one of Hollywood's legendary actors. Thanks for posting this wonderful tribute.
