Currently listening to Thelonious Monk’s “Friday The Thirteenth” to celebrate this day. It was actually recorded on Friday the thirteenth (1953), hence the title. I particularly enjoy the sound of this album for the inclusion of the French horn (Julius Watkins), and you really can’t go wrong with Sonny Rollins together with Monk. “Nutty” is also a great track from this session.
